Sworn in as Council Member for District 2

Carlos Moreno took the oath of office as the District 2 member of the Salt Lake County Council in January 2025, alongside the other officials elected in November 2024.

KSL reported that Moreno and Ross Romero (District 4) became the first Latino members of the County Council, and that Moreno is the first naturalized U.S. citizen elected to office in Utah. He used the moment to ask the Latino community to take part in politics more often: “We have beautiful families; we have prosperous businesses, but now is the time to participate politically.”

District 2 covers Copperton, Herriman, Kearns, Magna, South Jordan, West Jordan and West Valley City. The seat is up for election again in 2028.
